Following the RFPA board member meeting on 07/09/2026, the following rules will be in effect for the remainder of the 2026 pickleball season. RFPA Open Play Hours RFPA court policies are in effect during the following times: · Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. · Tuesday & Thursday: 5:00 p.m. – Dark During RFPA Hours To maximize court availability for our members: · No private lessons may be conducted during RFPA hours. To be clear, if you are holding private lessons on any court during the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, you are in violation of club rules and are causing major issues amongst your fellow players. If you are holding private lessons Tuesday & Thursday between 5pm-Dark, you are also in violation of club rules. Please schedule your private lessons accordingly, OUTSIDE OF RFPA CLUB TIME. · No private or non-RFPA round robins may be held during RFPA hours. If you chose to play with an organized foursome during RFPA hours, you’re subject to the paddle up/queue system. Play your game, shout “court” and make sure the waiting players in the queue are aware of the open court. Then paddle up, get in-line and wait for an open court. The RFPA is not opposed to organized foursomes, however, during RFPA time, you will be subject to taking turns and allowing for equal court time for your fellow players. Please do not schedule non-club sponsored round robins during club time. · RFPA court time is reserved for RFPA open play, clinics, leagues, and other RFPA-sponsored activities. Court Assignments Courts 1, 2 & 3 – Challenge Courts · Players paddle up with a partner. · Games are played 2 on / 2 off. · Winning teams may stay for a maximum of two games. Courts 4–12 – Open Play Peak Hours (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) · All Courts 4–12 will operate using 4 on / 4 off rotation and will use the paddle holder system located in front of court 5. NOTE: A change has been made and all Darien courts are subject to RFPA rules. This means the tennis court area is subject to rotation during RFPA club hours. It should also be noted that this tennis court area is subject to tennis play, and requires an immediate stoppage of pickleball play and yielding to tennis players. · All players should paddle up and rotate through the paddle system. · After each game, all four players rotate off together, allowing the next group of four onto the court. After Peak Hours Court usage may become more flexible as court demand decreases. Please continue to use good judgment and be considerate of other players. Public PlayOutside of RFPA hours, the courts are open for public use, and players may organize play as they choose. However, once all courts are occupied and players begin waiting, RFPA paddle rotation rules will apply to ensure fair and efficient court access for everyone. |
